Our Involvement - Upa Mayor Cup Open Women’s Football Competition 2079
Gokarneshwor Yuva Jagaran Club (GFG) organized a two day women’s futsal tournament on 24th and 25th June 2022 at Manakamana Futsal, Gokarneshwor. The first tournament of its kind hosted by the organizers, the event had 12 participating teams which included some of the best and the most competitive women’s teams - WePlay Kumari Girls Team, Dhuku Futsal Hub, Mega Power, Rumble Futsal, Gokarneshwor FC, Lords Light, Attarkhel Yuwa Samaj, Nayapati FC. Krijal FC, Arena Futsal, Shangrila FC and Chhahari FC.
WePlay Kumari played their first match of the tournament against Mega Power with the game ending on a 3-0 score. Our players Jenifer Rana Magar and Deepa Shahi scored two and one goals respectively. The second match was with Rumble Futsal, 3-0, with Deepa Shahi scoring a hatrick for WePlay. Our team competed with Dhuku Futsal Hub in the Semi Finals where the match ended on a zero all, and led to the penalty shootouts. Dhuku Futsal Hub qualified to the Finals as they won the penalty shootouts, 1-2.
Dhuku Futsal Hub lifted the winners trophy and cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- and Krijal FC placed second, winning the runners up trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/-. WePlay Kumari Girls Team won the Fair Play Award.
Representing our team was our 8 player squad - Sujita Ghalan (C), Jharana Bayung Rai (GK), Jenifer Rana Magar, Deepa Shahi, Kumari Tamang, Bandana Pun Magar, Sushma Maharjan and Supriya Rawat.
